Pigs in Minnesota may have contracted H1N1 virus

Three pigs that were displayed during the Minnesota State Fair have tested positive for the H1N1 flu virus, health officials said Friday. “This, of course, may be the first indication that it is present in some swine here in the United States,” Gene Hugoson, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, told reporters in a conference call. The confirmatory test results may not be back until next week, he said.

The North Platte Telegraph Health officials in Lincoln County confirmed the county’s first case of H1N1 flu virus on Tuesday morning after a female in her late 20s tested positive for the virus.
